2015-2016 INFLUENZA VACCINE

Influenza (“flu”) is a contagious disease that spreads around the United States and Japan every year, usually between October and May. The flu is an infection that can cause fever, cough, body aches, and other symptoms. The flu vaccine is a preventative treatment that can keep you from getting sick with the flu. The flu vaccine can also make flu less severe if you do get it, and keep you from spreading flu to your family and other people.

The flu vaccine comes in different forms, including: A shot that goes in the arm or a nasal spray. Our clinic will be offering both this year. The domestic Japanese flu vaccine (injection) will cost 3600 yen. FLUMIST (nasal spray) imported from the United States will cost 10000 yen. Supplies are limited so please place your appointments as soon as possible.

WHO organizes consultations with an advisory group of experts to analyse influenza virus surveillance data generated by the WHO Global Influenza Surveillance and Response System (GISRS), and issues recommendations on the composition of the influenza vaccines for the following influenza season. Both countries follow this recommendation but some variations exist. Variations on the vaccines are listed above.
